Communication needs

Our staff will make sure that patients with communication needs are supported.

For patients or their family member who have limited English, our staff will arrange a face-to-face or telephone interpreter. It is the responsibility of NHS staff to arrange this for you. For deaf/British Sign Language (BSL) users, our staff will arrange a BSL/English interpreter or make an offer for an online video BSL interpreter.

For other communication support needs, please contact a member of staff. Written information in other formats or languages can also be provided, upon request.

Induction loop

For induction loop hearing aid users, the teaching rooms have a portable lanyard in use. The other ANCHOR areas (reception/waiting rooms) have standard induction loops with signs informing hearing aid users to switch their device to ‘T’ (Telecoil) function so they can use this service.
