Thank you for visiting the NHS Grampian Renal Service website.
This website offers valuable information for patients and families looking to learn more about the renal services available within Grampian.
The NHS Grampian Renal Service is based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI). We provide kidney care for people across Grampian, Orkney and Shetland.
Our team supports people with a wide range of kidney conditions. This includes outpatient appointments, tests and treatments, dialysis at home or in hospital, care after a kidney transplant, and support for people with long-term kidney disease.
Haemodialysis is available at the main unit at ARI and at satellite dialysis units closer to home across Grampian, Orkney and Shetland.
Specialist staff support the dialysis units in Orkney and Shetland. This includes advice from doctors, specialist nurses, vascular access staff, transplant nurses, peritoneal dialysis nurses and renal dietitians.
If you need to come into hospital for kidney care, our inpatient ward is Ward 108 at ARI. The ward has 20 beds and provides specialist care from kidney doctors, nurses and the wider renal team. Dialysis can be provided on the renal ward and in critical care when needed. We also provide advice and support for patients with kidney disease who are staying in other wards at ARI.
