We are delighted to share this months offerings from the Staff Equalities Network on upcoming events and activities with an equalities focus that we hope will be of interest to you.
 
These sessions offer a great opportunity to learn, connect with colleagues, and get involved in promoting inclusion across our workplace. Whether you’re looking to increase your understanding or simply take part in something new, we’d love to be able to welcome you.

Unconscious Bias and Active Bystander Training 
 
The workshop will be delivered in two parts. The first workshop will explore Unconscious Bias and how to recognise it. The second workshop will explore how colleagues can safely intervene as an Active Bystander when witnessing inappropriate behaviours in the workplace. This is an interactive session with activities including presentations, group discussions and watching training videos.  Further information including dates and how to book you place available here
 
Neurodiversity Empowerment Group - Wednesday 17th June, 2-3 pm
 
A reminder to interested colleagues that our quarterly Neurodiversity Empowerment Group (NEG) meeting takes place next Wednesday.  You can find further information about the NEG here and contact gram.staffequalities@nhs.scot to be added to the group. 
 
 
Staff Equalities Network: 'Preventative Duty on Sexual Harassment' Wednesday 15th July, 2-3 pm
 
We are looking forward to welcoming Equality and Diversity Manager Roda Bird at our next Staff Equalities Network Meeting.  The Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 introduces a duty for employers to take "reasonable steps" to prevent sexual harassment and ensure a safe working environment. Roda Bird, Interim Equality and Diversity Manager, is leading the Culture Programme Board commission on the Preventative Duty on Sexual Harassment. Everyone has a role in creating a workplace free from sexual harassment, and raising awareness among all staff is a vital first step. Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace. A Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month Awareness Training
 
Article 12 in Scotland is pleased to invite you to join an online awareness training session "Then, Now and Tomorrow: Understanding Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Communities in Scotland" as part of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month 2026.

Monday 29 June 2026
1:30pm – 3:30pm

This free training session will explore the history, culture and lived experiences of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities in Scotland, while supporting professionals to develop a greater understanding of the barriers communities continue to face and how services can become more inclusive.

The session will cover:

• History, heritage and culture
• Current inequalities and barriers
• Rights and protections
• Challenging stereotypes and discrimination
• Good practice for inclusive engagement
• Creating more inclusive services and communities

Gypsy Traveller Action Planning Workshop
 
We would like to invite you to the Gypsy Traveller Action Planning Workshop on 22nd June, 09:30-12:00, Suttie Centre to develop a collaborative action plan following completion of the Health Needs Assessment. We are keen for you to join us to discuss how we can use the findings to shape focused work with Gypsy Traveller communities. NHS Grampian ABLE Network
 
The NHSG ABLE Network is the newly formed staff network to create a supportive, inclusive and empowering environment for staff with disability, impairment or with long-term health conditions and those who wish to be an ally. ABLE stands for Ability, Belonging, Learning/Leadership, Equity.
