What is iMatter?
iMatter is based on an annual staff engagement questionnaire which colleagues are invited to complete.
Please watch this short video for information on the iMatter process:
The process supports improvement by:
- gathering staff feedback through a confidential questionnaire
- generating a team report, where response levels allow
- supporting teams to discuss results and identify:
- their key strengths
- up to three priority improvement actions
- capturing agreed actions in a team action plan
- reviewing progress over time
The iMatter process is repeated annually to support continuous learning and improvement.
How iMatter is used in NHS Grampian
In NHS Grampian, iMatter supports improvement at different levels, including:
- individual teams – helping teams reflect on how they work together
- services and directorates – identifying common themes and areas for support
- Health and Social Care Partnerships – understanding staff experience across integrated services
- the organisation – informing wider culture, wellbeing and improvement work
iMatter is one way NHS Grampian listens to staff and is used alongside other engagement and improvement approaches.
Confidentiality and participation
Participation in iMatter is voluntary.
The survey is designed to protect staff confidentiality. Results are reported in a way that supports team discussion and improvement without identifying individual responses.
