This policy presents the latest information and sets the requirements for training and qualified non-medical prescribers in NHS Grampian to promote safe and effective prescribing. It addresses parameters of practice, and arrangements for initial and continuing education to support competence in the prescribing role. It describes the responsibilities and accountabilities of all key stakeholders so governance is assured. Good governance standards are set out and it includes a list of resources to meet these standards.

Where it is not reasonably practicable for prescribers in community setting/primary care to be aligned with GP Practice codes, consideration can be given to initiating a virtual practice.
