Grampian public mental health network charter
The Grampian Public Mental Health and Wellbeing Network has been established to help build collective action and provide peer support around public mental health and wellbeing across Grampian. This charter sets out the network’s aim, priority themes, purpose and operating principles.
Aim
‘Working together with people, communities and organisations, to improve mental health and wellbeing and reduce inequities across Grampian’
Priority themes
As a high-level framework, network members have agreed to adopt the 5 key areas set out in the ‘Taking a Public Health Approach to Mental Wellbeing in Grampian’.

Purpose statement
The purpose of the PMHW Network is to:
- To provide peer support for each other and personal development.
- To build networks and relationships across Grampian, reducing silo working.
- To connect grassroots groups and organisations with decision-making structures (E.g. Community Planning Partnerships, NHS Grampian and Health and Social Care Partnerships).
- To provide support and guidance to take forward mental health initiatives.
- To provide a credible, collective voice on public mental health and wellbeing.
- To share knowledge and stories across the system (including senior leadership).
- To develop shared aims and priorities.
Operating Principles
- We recognise and value the knowledge and skills that that we all bring to the team.
- We respect each other.
- We value everyone's strengths.
- We have space to check in and care for each other.
- We learn and develop together.
- We support each other.
- We regularly review where there are gaps in our knowledge and understanding.
- We review the purpose of the group at an agreed point each year.
- We acknowledge what we can achieve within our circle of influence.
- No question is a stupid question.
- We actively encourage questioning to seek a better understanding.
- We balance thinking, discussing and doing.
- We provide a safe space for constructive criticism.
- We welcome different points of view.
- It is ok to say ‘I don’t know’.
- We make space for non-work stuff.

Meeting Frequency
The network meets once every 6 weeks for 60 minutes.
Review
The network charter will be reviewed every 6 months to ensure information included is up to date. Any changes will be agreed by the network.
