Management Development

What’s the Management Development Programme (MDP) all about?

Designed to equip managers with the grounding they need to feel confident in their management practice, the MDP provides an invaluable review of keystone management policies and highlights current organisational priorities. Expect to study traditional management subjects such as ‘health and safety’ and ‘HR’ in the programme as well as topical focus areas such as ‘culture and wellbeing in the workplace’ and ‘performance appraisal’.

Whether you’re a seasoned manager with years of experience or an aspiring manager with plans for your future career, this course is for you.

Course Structure and Requirements

The course unfolds on Teams week to week over 9 consecutive weeks and participants need to plan time for pre-reading, as well as e-learning in addition to attending live sessions. On average, delegates should expect the course to take 3-5 hours a week with some weeks requiring more or less time.

Prior approval from your line manager is required for the course, and this should be linked to your performance appraisal in terms of development planning.

Session Formats and Networking Opportunities

Sessions include different formats and breakout room activities with a view to helping delegates network with peers - an important aspect of development. Some sessions take the format of a Q&A session, providing an important opportunity for managers to ask questions of specialist colleagues from Occupational Health as well as Health & Safety departments. Such sessions are not recorded so delegates feel psychologically safe and encouraged to raise any questions.
