Coaching

Professional Coaching is an ongoing partnership that helps clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life.”

What are the Objectives of Coaching in the Workplace?

Coaching is a solution-focussed development intervention that supports people to achieve improved personal contribution, performance and operational effectiveness at work. Coaching provided through NHS Grampian is for the purpose of enhancing development and performance in the organisational context; it is not ‘life’ coaching.

Who May Access Coaching At Work

Any member of staff may apply for coaching. As coaching takes place during the applicant’s normal working hours, applications for coaching must be supported by the applicant’s line manager.

The eligibility criteria considered when coaching is requested may include:

· new appointment, promotion or redeployment;

· career development / transition;

· recently having been given more responsibility within current role;

· involved in leading staff through change / service reviews / organisational change;

· identified need to increase effectiveness in relation to role and leadership of people;

· identified need to improve working relationships;

How is Coaching Accessed?

Coaching in NHSG is provided by coaches from the internal Coaching Bank, all of whom are employees of the organisation who hold a recognised coaching qualification.

Coaching is accessed through submission of a Coaching Application Form followed by a conversation with a member of the Wellbeing, Culture and Development team to assess the applicant’s fit with the eligibility criteria and their suitability for coaching.

For more information on coaching or to download the Application Form please visit the  NHSG intranet page

(Please note that intranet links can only be accessed on NHS Grampian computers, if you need further information please speak to your manager)
