The Management Development Programme (MDP) has been reviewed.

Key Enhancements from June 2025

Putting People First – listening to delegate feedback to create a more tailored offering.

In response to feedback, we’ve shortened the overall duration of the course and have introduced other changes as described below.

  1. Optimised Delivery Structure: Weekly session frequency has been reduced from two sessions to one. Whenever feasible, sessions are recorded to allow delegates to review content at convenient times.
  2. Dual-Stream Curriculum Design: The course is open to both aspiring and current managers. We have restructured the programme into two distinct but complementary streams:
  • The Essentials Stream: Core content required for all participants regardless of current management status. Weeks 1 -6 inclusive.
  • The Advanced Stream: Content that is mandatory for current managers but optional for aspiring managers. Weeks 1-9 inclusive.

This restructuring will reduce the overall programme duration from 10 to 9 weeks (6 weeks for those following The Essentials Stream) while ensuring relevance for all participants according to their specific needs and career stage.

  1. Proactive Health & Safety Compliance: To prevent workload conflicts during the course, completion of the Health & Safety e-learning toolkit is now a prerequisite for programme admission. Previously, delegates sometimes reported challenges in managing their time to complete this e-learning while participating in the course. By requiring the completion of this e-learning before admission, we aim to make the course more manageable from a time perspective once it begins.
  2. Mentoring Opportunities: Optional individual or group mentoring opportunities are now offered to help delegates translate theoretical knowledge into practical workplace practice.
  3. Structured Application Process: The previous self-enrolment system has been replaced with a formal application process that requires line manager endorsement. This change ensures that delegates are well-informed about what to expect during the course, enhancing their preparedness and commitment.
  4. Name Change: The programme is now referred to simply as the Management Development Programme, omitting any reference to ‘middle managers’ or ‘digital’.
  5. Shortened Overall Course Duration: The ‘Commitment to Culture’ and ‘Wellbeing in the Workplace’ sessions are now combined into one session, reducing the maximum course duration to 9 weeks if delegates complete the Advanced Stream (6 weeks for the Essentials Stream).
