This event is being hosted by the North EastPopulation Health Alliance- a collaboration of leaders across the North East of Scotland aiming to deliver change and improve lives. 

Programme Overview 

Welcome! 

To the second annual Symposium on North East Place and Wellbeing. Today’s purpose is to continue to learn about ‘place and wellbeing’ and to network across the region, bringing together people working at grass roots level, academia, policy and leadership – all with a local lens. 

 

09:30 Doors open: Registration with refreshments on arrival  

 

10:00 - 10:10 Welcome: Susan Webb, Director of Public Health, NHS Grampian 

 

10:10 - 10:30 Opening Plenary Session: "Place and Health Inequalities - Cause or Cure?". Professor Rich Mitchell, Programme Leader, Places and Health, Co-Director of the Centre for Research on Environment, Society and Health (CRESH), University of Glasgow.

 

10:30 – 10:50 Meet the North East Population Health Alliance

 

10:50-11:00 Introduce Next Part of the Morning

11:15 – 12:15 World Café Session#1:  

Small Group Table Discussions 

  1. ‘Is it possible to reconcile community improvements to place with corporate strategic plans?’ 
  2. ‘Which is more important for improving our green spaces – quality or quantity?’ 
  3. ‘How can we maximise health benefits in Place improvements?’ 
  4. ‘Making sure Social Prescribing is here today – and here tomorrow’  
  5. ‘Don’t expect me to think about the planet when we have to choose between heating and eating’
  6. ‘Where is ‘My Place’ in all of this?’
