Health and Wellbeing Award – Open for Entries
Do you know a project that’s making a real difference by connecting people with nature? The RSPB Nature of Scotland Awards is celebrating the powerful role nature plays in supporting our mental and physical wellbeing — and they want to hear from you!
The Health and Wellbeing Award honours individuals, communities, and organisations whose initiatives not only improve human health through nature but also inspire action to protect and restore our planet.
The RSPB are especially keen to hear from projects that focus on inclusion and reach people who face additional barriers to engaging with nature and work that actively involves local people and communities in shaping and leading the project.
Entries are free and open until 27 May — don’t miss your chance to shine!

A recent publication from the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), released in March 2025. The report highlights important messages encouraging the adoption of more sustainable prescribing practices in general practice – including nature-based activities – as an approach that can play a vital role in tackling the climate crisis while supporting patients to live healthier lives with reduced reliance on medication.
Some of the recommendations mentioned in the publication include:
Expanding effective non-medical and nature-based interventions:
- NICE and SIGN should update their guidelines to incorporate non-medical and nature-based interventions as a specialised category, where evidence of benefit is available.
- Governments across the UK should ensure sufficient long-term investment in voluntary and community services which can provide access to evidence-based non-medical and nature-based interventions, with a focus on areas of high deprivation.
