As Speak Up Week comes to a close for another year - it’s time to reflect!

The Independent National Whistleblowing Officer (INWO) launched Speak Up Week in 2022, and we are proud to have been a part of that first event, and then every year since.  If you are new to Speak Up Week, we’d encourage you to visit our website where you can look back at some of our events and activities over the years here

In case you missed it – last year as part of our programme for Speak Up Week 2024, the team invited colleagues from across the organisation to a special in-person event at ARI. 

The event welcomed a number of guest speakers who covered a wide range of topics, including the NHS Grampian Antiracism Plan, the NHS Grampian Speak Up Programme, the importance of developing a ‘listen up culture’ and valuing EDI in the workplace.

Before we sign off, we want to thank everyone across NHS Grampian who took part, shared ideas, and helped build momentum around this year’s theme: “Listen, Act, Build Trust.”  Your contributions—whether attending events, starting conversations, or reflecting on how to embed a speak up culture—are what make this week meaningful.

But our commitment doesn’t end here. Let’s carry the energy and learning from this week forward into our everyday practice, continuing to create safe, supportive spaces where every voice matters.

We’re already looking ahead to Speak Up Week 2026, and we hope that you will join us, to build on this year’s success with even more opportunities to grow, connect, and strengthen our culture of openness and trust.
