Staff Lunch Event at Orange Zone Café

Aberdeen Royal Infirmary 17th April 25

We were absolutely thrilled to celebrate Vaisaki this year at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with yet another fantastic menu specially curated by our Catering Team to be authentic and in keeping with the celebrations.

The Vaishaki menu was inspired when Catering Manager Stuart Donald was invited to visit the Aberdeen Grurudwara to participate in their Sunday offerings, which included joining the community for delicious Langar.

Following the event Stuart told us ‘I am always really interested to learn new and different ways to experience food that will help to enhance the lunch time experience for our colleagues, and what better way to learn what to serve at Vaishaki than spending time with our local Sikh community’

The Staff Equalities Network was able to reciprocate the offer and was delighted to welcome friends from the Aberdeen Gurudwara to speak with NHS Grampian colleagues at lunch time about Vaishaki and what it means to those celebrating, and most importantly to taste-test the menu, which gained approval all round.

Many thanks to everyone who came along to participate on the day and helped to make Vaishaki 2025 a day for everyone to remember.

If there is a date that you think we can help you to celebrate, please do not hesitate to get in touch by emailing gram.staffequalities@nhs.scot
