GEMs May 2025 Meeting

NHS Grampian Empowered Multicultural staff (GEMs) Group

Wednesday 2- 3 pm on May 21st (MS Teams)

For our May meeting, the GEMs are delighted to welcome Myshele Haywood, Development Worker from Grampian Regional Equality Council LTD (GREC) and Jean Firth, Collection Assistant & Engagement Curator at Grampian Hospital Arts Trust (GHAT)

Myshele will update colleagues on the outcome of funding from the Anti-Racist Observatory for Scotland (AROS) to engage with local people about their experiences of systemic racism. Following a series of engagement events with diverse population groups, Myshele will provide an overview of the key issues highlighted by participants, with a focus on healthcare, along with participant’s priorities and ideas for tackling racism.  Further reading available below.

In addition, we are looking forward to welcoming Jean, who is keen to explore opportunities to increase access to the GHAT art Collection in ARI and health care settings – through engaging audiences and improving interpretation and we would love to find out from GEMs colleagues how we can make the GHAT experience more inclusive.

The GEMs is a welcoming and friendly group and is open to all colleagues who have an interest in progressing the antiracism agenda in NHS Grampian.

If you would like the link to join, please email gram.staffequalities@nhs.scot
