What is a Digital Assessment?

We want to make your assesments as convenient as possible. If you are suitable for a digital assessment, you do not need to travel to the clinic, reducing transportation time and costs.

Instead, our digital service involves you providing answers to some targeted clinical questions regarding the issue you have been experiencing. Your clinician will use this information to make a decision about your treatment and they will send you their advice through the app.

Please note: you will not talk “live” to anyone online. You will send and receive communication electronically via your email and/or SMS.

Can I have a Digital Assessment?

If your clinician identifies you as suitable for this service, you will be offered a digital assessment instead of a traditional clinic assessment. You can of course choose to opt out should you feel that this is not for you.

You will need to have access to a computer, smartphone or a tablet with internet access, and be confident using these devices. You will also need an active email address that we can use to invite you to register for the service.

How do I register?

Watch this video guide which aims to walk you through the registration process off the back of an invite from your healthcare professional.

NHS Scotland will send you an email or an SMS inviting you to register for your digital assessment.

The initial registration email will come from noreply@ggc.nhslenus.scot

Check your spam or junk mail folders in case this email is directed there.

Click on the link in the email/SMS. Then register your personal details and give permission for your clinician to access the data you add.

Once you have registered, please wait for an email/SMS from NHS Scotland that will have more details about your assessment. This can be several weeks after you have registered so please do not forget your password.

Please note: It is not possible to use the same email address for more than one patient.

How does a Digital Assessment work?

When a suitable assessment slot is available for you and an assessment has been booked, we will send you an email/SMS asking you to log in, and answer some questions from your clinician.

You will have a five day window prior to your assessment date in which to submit information in relation to your condition. You must submit this information before your assessment date.

What happens next?

Your information is then sent to your clinician who will review the information you have provided and decide on any treatment.

We will send you a response by email within four weeks. Depending on your clinician’s recommendations you may:

  • Receive advice to alter your current treatment with prescriptions from your GP surgery
  • Be referred for further treatment
  • Be asked to attend for a video or face to face assessment
  • Be discharged from the service.

You may be asked by your clinician for further information via the app, investigations and treatment can be arranged this way also.

Is my information safe?

Your data is kept safe in NHS Scotland’s data storage systems. It is managed according to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) standards, ensuring your data is securely shared between you and your clinical team and will be stored in your electronic record. Your clinical team can only access your data when you provide permission for them to do so.

You can find out more about the information we collect and what we do with it at: Terms of Use
