Play is a very important part of the families care at Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital.

The Play Team are all trained to provide play and recreational activites to meet the needs of children and young people of all ages.

By providing structured play programmes play staff can:

Ensure play is part of the child's treatment programme.

Help relieve boredom and anxiety caused by a hospital admission.

Provide a fun and friendly environment.

Use play to prepare and explain procedures and treatments to families.

Distract children and young people during procedures.

Introduce normal routines and normalising play

Help families cope during their stay
