Give Kids a Chance is delighted to announce that the programme will be delivered by leading children's charity, CHILDREN
1ST (the operating name of the RSSPCC
).
Give Kids a Chance is a popular, Grampian-wide project which is currently hosted and managed by the Aberdeen City Public Health Team. The new move follows an extensive review, a consultation and an investigation of options to join the voluntary sector.
Kathy Henwood
, Assistant Director of Children and Family Services (North) for CHILDREN
1ST, said: "It's really important to give children and young people the right support at the right time. At CHILDREN
1ST we know that sport, leisure and musical activities give children and young people the opportunity to learn new skills, gain confidence, make friends and have fun.
"Through Give Kids a Chance, we are keen to give children and young people chances to have fun, and build friendships and confidence which will last them long into adulthood."
Heather Wilson, Give Kids a Chance Project Manager, said: "This move will establish CHILDREN
1ST as a leading provider of early intervention services and enable Give Kids a Chance to continue supporting young people. This move has been necessary to try to safeguard the long term sustainability of Give Kids a Chance and provide young people in Grampian with the best possible service. Now the project has a new host it is time to raise the profile, celebrate the good work done to date and work in partnership to ensure a smooth handover."
Plans are now in place for the move across to CHILDREN
1ST to be completed by October 2012.
