Mobile breast screening unit at Banchory

The north east of Scotland mobile breast screening service will be in Banchory from mid February till Thursday, March 29. Two units will be based at the Bellfield Car Park, Dee Street.
Women between the ages of 50 and 70 registered with the Banchory Group Practice and the Torphins Medical Practice will be invited to attend. Older women are not sent an invitation, but they are encouraged to make their own appointment by contacting the screening centre on 01224 550570. Women who work in Aberdeen can also make their own appointment if it is more convenient to attend the centre at Foresterhill.
The aim of the programme is to detect breast changes at an early stage when treatment has the best chance of success. Women invited for the first time are strongly encouraged to attend. It is also important that anyone who has been screened before or missed a previous appointment in the last three years takes up the offer.
The risk of developing breast cancer increases with age so screening is an important check in ensuring there have been no changes since the last mammogram.
