As well as describing the present health status and trends of the population of Grampian, the report also includes a number of encouraging and effective examples of partnership working. However, we must continue to address significant and compelling challenges, including: the growing numbers of elderly people, health inequalities, the rising tide of obesity and ongoing problems of substance misuse, including alcohol, drugs and tobacco. Giving our children in Grampian the best start in life is a key priority as is the promotion of physical and mental health for all while reaching out to the most vulnerable in our society.
As we move forward, very close working will be crucial for success - of all relevant agencies, with our local communities - as we strive together for the health and wellbeing of our people. In effect, nurturing and empowering the public health of Grampian is everyone's business.
