My post involves collecting cognitive and behavioural data for an international longitudinal study investigating the neurobiological predictors of Huntington's Disease (HD) funded by NIH, USA, and the High Q Foundation, USA. The post also requires the organisation of these appointments, and submission of relevant data. I also gather clinical data for the European Huntington's Disease Network whose aim is to establish a database of HD patients and HD mutation carriers who are willing to participate in clinical trials throughout Europe. This database also provides an information and learning resource about the clinical features of HD, and is updated regularly as patients attend clinic. I am also a member of their cognitive working group. In the near future I shall be involved in the cognitive assessment of individuals in a phase III HD symptomatic treatment drug trial. In all of these studies I work for the Local Lead Clinician who is a Consultant Geneticist with a special interest in HD. Under supervision of a Clinical Neuropsychologist I carry out neuropsychological assessments and, where appropriate, interventions.
