Visiting Times

Visiting times

There is a relaxed visiting policy at Roxburghe House although visitors are requested to avoid busy times in the ward, e.g. early mornings and meal times (11.45am to 12.30pm and 4.45pm to 5.30pm). We also have a rest period for patients from 12.30pm to 2.00pm each day and we ask visitors to avoid visiting during this time. Patients can find excessive numbers of visitors or lengthy visits tiring and we ask that visitors bear this in mind. Children are welcome, but must be supervised. Overnight accommodation within the Unit can be provided in special circumstances. Nursing staff will be happy to discuss this and make arrangements if required.

Patient enquiries

Relatives and friends may telephone at any time. However, please bear in mind that answering calls can take up valuable nursing time. It would be helpful if only one member of a family made contact and relayed the information received to others. It may be possible for calls to be directed to the patient's bedside at the discretion of staff. If you wish to discuss any aspect of care with any member of the team please ask a nurse to arrange this. Please be aware that patient confidentiality can restrict the information available to callers.

General enquiries

All general enquiries will be dealt with by reception staff to minimise disturbance to staff and patients. Calls will be forwarded as appropriate.
