Also in Portsoy Medical Practice:
We run a computerised prescription service for patients on regular medication approved by your doctor. You should drop the tear-off slip into the surgery (box inside front door). Remember, using this slip helps avoid any confusion with your medication. We also accept postal requests if you enclose a stamped addressed envelope.
Receptionists are unable prescribe any items not approved by your GP and are unable to issue any medication that is not due to be re-ordered. We require a minimum of 48 hours to process your request. Please do not wait until you are almost out of your medication before requesting more. Your doctors aim to review your repeat medications at least once a year. Watch out for a reminder at the bottom of your repeat slip.
There are doctors in the practice that are qualified to carry out minor surgery. If you have a cyst, mole or need a joint injection, consult your doctor who will advise.
A full range of private medical examinations, certifications and travel vaccines are undertaken. There maybe charges for these services. Details can be obtained at the reception desk.
Our pharmacist assists all practice staff to review and update systems for dealing with prescriptions and patient medication. She also supports the doctors in ensuring new prescribing guidelines are introduced into the practice to ensure that patients are getting the best of care.
Our phlebotomist is available to carry out blood tests and heart tracings as requested by your doctor. Please understand that she is not a nurse and therefore not able to answer any medical questions.
