C.diff outbreak Dr Gray's - Update 29/05/09

No new cases were reported at today's outbreak control team meeting. Currently there are seven patients associated with the outbreak in the hospital, reflecting a recurrence of the infection in some patients. This is not uncommon.

The outbreak was contained in wards seven and nine. Ward seven remains closed to new admissions, and ward nine is undergoing refurbishment.

The outbreak control team will meet again on Monday, June 1. The team will continue to monitor the situation over the weekend, and review the position then. Updated figures will be released after that meeting.
