NHS Grampian recognises and values the contribution of volunteers and is committed to supporting and developing volunteering. For many years volunteers have undertaken a wide range of roles across Grampian, making a difference to patients in a range of healthcare settings.

It sets out a number of the standards that we will meet across the organisation and allows both internal and external stakeholders to be clear about the commitments and support required.
The policy builds on previous policies, but has been developed in the light of NHS Scotland's Refreshed Strategy for Volunteering and the organisation's commitment to achieve Investing in Volunteers (IIV) by spring 2011.
The purpose of this policy is to create a framework of commitments and actions to support and develop volunteering to the benefit of the service, the staff and the volunteers.
