The Peter Brunt Centre

The Peter Brunt Centre is the outpatient facility of the gastroenterology and hepatology service at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.  The centre allows patients to be seen, assessed and managed by their medical team in an area specifically designed for the management of gastrointestinal and liver disease.

Liver Disease

We provide care and treatment for patients affected by a wide range of liver diseases including:
  • Viral hepatitis
  • Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
  • Alcoholic liver disease
  • Autoimmune liver diseases
  • Pre and post liver transplant care
  • Jaundice
We have a multi-disciplinary team of doctors, specialist nurses, dieticians and community psychiatric nurses.  We also have the ability to assess the liver using a non invasive procedure called Fibroscan.  There is an urgent jaundice clinic which allows GPs to refer patients who develop jaundice to a liver specialist nurse for prompt investigation and treatment.

This short video (Windows Media Player format) is intended to inform newly diagnosed hepatitis patients what to expect on their first visit to the clinic and shows a patient journey through the clinic.
