Services in the Emergency Care Centre
Emergency and urgent care has been carried out in a number of various locations on the Foresterhill Health Campus:
- Primary care out-of-hours service (GMED) in the David Anderson Building.
- Urgent minor injuries and emergency care in the A&E Department.
- Medical emergency admissions in the Acute Medical Assessment Unit (Ward 49, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary).
- Acute geriatric medicine in Woodend Hospital.
These services are now all brought together in the Emergency Care Centre and their co-location will enable patients to tbe cared for in the most appropriate service setting for their particular emergency or urgent care need. The centre has X-ray and scanning facilities as well as access to all laboratory services. There are comfortable waiting areas with drinks and snack facilities close by, health and carer information points and a children's play area.
New ward accommodation is provided on the upper floors of the Emergency Care Centre.
