Tiotropium 2.5 microgram solution for inhalation (Spiriva Respimat®) Black Triangle symbol indicating that the CHM and MHRA are intensively monitoring this product
Antimuscarinic bronchodilators BNF 3.1.2
Tiotropium is already included in the GJF; the respimat inhaler (Spiriva Respimat®) Black Triangle symbol indicating that the CHM and MHRA are intensively monitoring this product  was approved for restricted use as maintenance bronchodilator treatment to relieve symptoms of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.  It may be used for patients in whom tiotropium is an appropriate choice of maintenance bronchodilator treatment but it is restricted to patients who have poor manual dexterity and therefore have difficulty using the Handihaler® device.  Available for general use [restricted to patients who have poor manual dexterity and have difficulty using the Handihaler® device] and treatment may be initiated in either hospital or community.

Standardised allergen extract of grass pollen 75,000 SQ-T per oral lyophilisate (Grazax®) Black Triangle symbol indicating that the CHM and MHRA are intensively monitoring this product is not recommended for use within NHS Scotland for the treatment of grass pollen induced rhinitis and conjunctivitis in adult patients with clinically relevant symptoms and diagnosed with a positive skin prick test and/or specific IgE test to grass pollen [SMC 367/07].
Not recommended by SMC for use within NHS Scotland - will not be included in Grampian Joint Formulary for this indication.
